The guitarist Jens Müller was born in 1966 and started guitar lessons at the age of nine. His teachers included Jens Kienbaum, Ansgar Krause and Hubert Käppel. He also attended masterclasses by Abel Carlevaro, Oscar Ghiglia, David Tannenbaum and Thomas Müller-Pering.

In 1996 Jens Müller graduated with a distinction at the Musikhochschule in Cologne and made successful appearances as soloist at competitions in Germany and abroad. He has also won several prizes with the Kölner Gitarrenduo and recorded four CDs that received great critical acclaim.

At the end of 2009 he brought out his CD “Travels – 5 Continents on 6 Strings”, which includes music by Pat Metheny, Agustin Barrios and Carlo Domeniconi. The recording was praised in reviews for its “great variety of tone colour”, “technical brilliance” and “expressive, filigree guitar playing”.

On his 2011 album Sur – Guitar Music of the South, he presented a musical spectrum ranging from classical tangos and Spanish guitar music to famous jazz standards. It received enthusiastic reviews for its first-class interpretations, excellent technical execution and the wonderful interplay of emotions.

Since 2006, in addition to his activities as a soloist, he has been giving concerts with Martin Becker, flautist in the “WDR Symphony Orchestra”, as the Duo FluGito. In 2013, they issued their CD Impresiones Latinas, featuring works by Astor Piazzolla, Maximo Diego Pujol and Zequinha Abreu, among others. He also plays in the jazz ensemble Rösrath Allstars, whose other members include Willy Ketzer, Jens Neufang and Rolf Römer; the group brought out the CD Jazzing the Owl in 2007.

In the capacity of specialist journalist, he has been writing the workshop series “Classic Corner”, test reports and feature articles for the magazine Guitar acoustic since 2010. With his wide range of competencies and experience, he is also a highly regarded competition jury member and much in demand as a teacher at workshops; his pupils and the ensembles he has coached have achieved numerous successes at competitions.
